Developed in the Alps.
Ready for Anywhere.
Aper Gear was born in Switzerland, where steep climbs, rocky trails, and fast-changing weather shape how we ride. Our gear reflects that: it is compact, light, and built to explore remote trails. The name Aper comes from Swiss-German. This term is used to describe a mountain face after the snow has melted. Once it is aper, crossing high passes becomes possible again. This marks the true start of the bikepacking season.
Purpose-Built for Bikepacking.
Most gear used for bikepacking started out as hiking gear, just adapted to a different activity. At Aper, we do the opposite. Every product is purpose-built for bikepacking. It is designed with limited space, weight distribution, and clean bike fit in mind. Our shelters pack small, load fast, and carry clean. Because bikepackers deserve gear made for riding, not borrowed from hiking.
Who’s Behind Aper Gear?
Aper Gear was founded by Fabian Furrer, Industrial designer, Bikepacker, and former Head of Design for Equipment and Footwear at Mammut Sports Group. Over the years, he helped shape some of the outdoor industry's most trusted products, including sleeping bags, avalanche airbags, technical backpacks, and footwear. But bikepacking has been part of his life for much longer. After crossing the Alps by bike more than 20 years ago, it became a lasting passion and eventually the reason for starting Aper Gear.
The brand is an outlet for creativity and hands-on design. Intended to stay close to the bikepacking community, and to create gear that makes bikepacking more accessible.
